A Breast Lift Can Restore a Youthful Silhouette
Significant weight loss, increased age, and pregnancy can all cause the breasts to sag. A breast lift procedure can raise sagging breasts, giving them a more youthful projection. This procedure is particularly helpful for women who are looking to achieve their younger figures once again, especially after having children. Dr. Brian F. Burns has a skillful eye for aesthetics and uses the latest surgical techniques to create the most natural-looking results from breast lift surgery at his Victoria, TX, practice.
Before Breast Lift Procedure
After Breast Lift Procedure
To undergo any breast surgery, you should be:
- In good physical health
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- At a stable weight
- Over the age of 18
- Realistic about expected results
Dr. Burns recommends that patients wait to have breast lifts until they have decided not to have more children, because future pregnancies can cause the skin to stretch further and change procedure results. Similarly, if you are planning additional weight loss, Dr. Burns recommends that you wait to have a breast lift until you are at or very close to your ideal weight.
There are multiple surgery techniques that Dr. Burns can use to help you achieve your desired breast lift results. For a standard lift, Dr. Burns uses an anchor-shaped incision that starts at the areola, goes down to the base of the breast, and along the crease. This technique has been shown to reduce sagging and droopiness in the lower half of the breast, and can also allow easier placement of implants during a procedure combined with breast augmentation. Most women are able to receive a standard lift.
Other techniques involve less extensive approaches that only place incisions around the areola and down to the crease, or around the areola alone. These approaches will create less scarring and require less time to recover from. However, less-extensive incisions will not allow Dr. Burns to remove and reposition as much tissue, and are not suitable for women with larger or very droopy breasts.
A more advanced lift technique is also available. Many patients have extra tissue on the side of their chest. Previously, this tissue was removed. With new technology, however. Dr. Burns is able to bring this tissue over, augmenting your current breast tissue with natural-looking results, without the need for implants.
When performing a breast lift, Dr. Burns pays close attention to surgical molding techniques to give you the best-shaped breast possible. He is dedicated to giving his patients expert results.
Recovery from surgery depends on each patient, the extensiveness of your lift, and if you had other body contouring procedures done at the same time. You should expect, however, to take at least a week or two off work and to have someone with you for the first 48 hours after surgery. Total healing from the procedure will take several months, as swelling decreases and your breasts settle into their new shape. In six months to a year, you can typically see the full results of your procedure.
A breast lift is able to achieve stunning results by removing excess skin and repositioning underlying tissues. Your breasts can be significantly perkier, and fuller, especially if you decide to undergo an augmentation at the same time. A breast lift can also improve the shape or symmetry of your breasts. Many patients who undergo a breast lift report that their figures look much younger after the surgery. With this improvement to your appearance, you may feel more self-confident, which can show in your relationships, romantic and otherwise.
